‘Heartbreakers’ is a good example of how to make a fun mobile game. It follows the recent trend of story based games where you have to find clues, discover plotlines and eventually find the true killer. ‘Heartbreakers’ is slightly different in that your ultimate goal is to find your true lover; actually any lover will do.
You are a poor sandwich seller with a steady girlfriend but it's not long before your path is crossed by an attractive, single female. Spurred on by your devilish conscience, you are forced to enter into a fling and then lie, cheat and steal your way back into your girlfriend's heart (or dump her - the choice is yours). Ultimately this is not a game to show your beloved especially if you happen to be naturally good at the game.
You are aided and abetted by your own horny little devil who gently guides you down the path of infidelity. As the story unfolds, you are always given a selection of choices which usually revolve around questions or answers for your girlfriend or mistress. Some answers may gain you a kiss while others may illicit a smack. Upset your partner too much and you will find yourself out on your ear. At the end of each section your overall love meter indicates how smooth you are.
The game is arranged into a number of Acts and scenes and your progress can be saved after each scene. To add a bit of longevity into the game, Heartbreaker's also has a few mini games thrown in. These are played in between Acts and if you complete the task your confidence meter will rise and you might be able to get away with a few cheeky answers. The mini games are based on popular casual games such as Pipe Mania and Jewel Quest. Once you complete the story, these games are unlocked for you to play at any time - assuming you are a successful love cheat. Without giving too much of the plot away, there is enough incentive to play the game a couple of times and see whether the grass is greener. It is unlikely to stay on your phone for months and months.
